My experience with Terra-Blue Kennels began with an extensive research of herding breeds, as I wanted a new agility partner. After deciding that the Pyrenean Shepherd was the breed for me , I began reading philosophies of the various breeders and speaking with other dog owners. It became clear to me that Terra-Blue excelled in the areas of concern for me health and socialization. I asked if I could make a visit and was warmly invited to do so. I was very impressed at first sight, having been to other kennels – the dogs were all in the house and there was no doggy smell, no barking a little of the usual excitement over someone new, but very friendly. The one puppy there was totally at ease with all the others and although not terribly interested in me, he was not fearful either. I was most impressed by the fact that no one was trying to e on this puppy in fact, it was not until I said that I was interested in him that Joni said she thought I would be very pleased with him. That puppy is now my dog. He is healthy and socialized, and is an awesome agility competitor he has incredible drive, is extremely intelligent, and has a real desire to work and to please. (He is also happy to lay by my chair while I work on the computer.) Although reserved with his affection in the beginning, he has become the most affectionate dog I have ever had. When I was looking to add to my agility family, I looked at various options with breeders and breed types. When I got to the Terra-Blue website I realized that Joni would be my breeder. The web content was a wealth of valuable information from facts of the breed, to how exactly the puppy would be raised. Once I decided that a Pyr Shep was definitely in my future, I submitted my application, which was so thorough I knew that Joni cared about who these puppies went to. All my efforts led me to have the most loving, sweet, inquisitive dog I have ever had. There are three things that were paramount to me when considering getting a dog: 1. Professionalism – “Are the people I am working with not only talking the talk but are they walking the walk. 2. Temperament – “I am looking for a solid, well adjusted temperament“ this is non-negotiable to me; 3. Earning the distinction as an AKC Hall of Fame kennel and USASA Hall of Fame breeder put them in an elite status. Knowing that I was dealing with people who really knew this breed, my second consideration was the temperament of the dog. My three Terra-Blue Aussies have the heart of a lion and the gentleness of a lamb. They are incredibly smart and easily trained. At all times, they are sweet, loving and patient. I can take them anywhere, meet strange people, strange dogs and they are always well received and well behaved. All three of mine have completed their AKC Canine Good Citizen title as well as Therapy Dog International training. I absolutely could not ask for a better, well rounded dog.
